I've come to enjoy closing each month with a look back in photos. June, for me, was a welcome reprieve from the emotional rollercoaster that was May.
And more than just a reprieve from tough emotions and memories, June was filled with new energy, fun activities, long-neglected house projects, much-needed time with all my people, and a Midwest road trip.
June also reminded me that joy returns after every solemn season, whether that season is a day, a week, or a month. Joy returns…and it helps to seek it, to pay close attention, to notice the magic in ordinary moments.

On my Midwest road trip, I enjoyed visits to two nature-infused destinations. One I hadn't visited in 20+ years. The other a total surprise!
Morton Arboretum, Illinois
John James Audubon State Park, Kentucky
And my backyard natural habitat. June 26 was the first day the baby black vultures appeared on the barn door. Right on time at 10 weeks they have begun getting curious about the big world that awaits.
I can't wait to share so much more about the black vulture adventures throughout July! It's really the most fun and silliest month of the year watching these young ones learn how to operate their legs and wings.
Soon, they'll take to the sky!
I swear I want to pick your brain on midwest travels. Here is another one! Love your writings....very peaceful and meditative. See you soon. xo :) Lori G.
